Rebecca Hammett, 21-year-old student at Anderson University, wants to re-expertise with the university that she still remembers from her high school days in Lexington.
She walked with a companion at the University of South Carolina in Columbia for assistance involving an investment of other young high school women were picking out prom dresses. All were donated, but a lot of them had only been worn when, maybe twice.
There were also shoes and accessories such as necklaces and handbags, to go along with the dresses. Significant school-aged women? All students outside the shop? Are choosing the dresses for their proms.
"It was exciting to uncover their faces slightly upwards," said Hammett. "They did not really need to shell out $ 200 to get, but they get to decorate and show up at prom and be like everyone else."
Now, Hammett has served to organize a similar occasion at Anderson University. Known as the Cinderella challenge. Hammett and other students in high school routine job at the college are accumulating gently used accessories, along with shoes, scarves, jewelry and purses.
Students could have a great choice for this project on Saturday at Hope Fellowship Church on Clemson Boulevard. Hammett explained students will be available 10:00 to 16:00, getting the donated items.
During the week, people can drop off donated items at Anderson University High School Activities at the work place, situated about Denmark University dormitory. Until now, students have collected about 20 dresses, Hammett reported. In early February, Hammett said he hoped the local community will donate fifty to 75 dresses.
But until Thursday, Cinderella is a challenge so far collected about 120 dresses, as a result of significant donations to the TL Hanna High School Prom Committee.
Dresses will be collected until April eight. Dresses in larger sizes are important as well, she explained.
Students will be put in place "Cinderella Boutique" on Rainey good art of the Middle 16th April. Hammett said the community is a great school counselors tips to help establish a women who could benefit from the clothes collected Cinderella Challenge.
A Hammett, who has a theater and art education major at Anderson University, says she is looking ahead to watch a whole new set of faces slightly to reveal a woman dresses that are only accurate for them.
"We are really excited about receiving," said Hammett. "Things have seriously come together ."
